Fleur de Lumière
Taking modern day technology and merging it with old world artisan craftsmanship and create a new way of lighting. While slip-cast porcelain lighting fixtures have languished into the past, Light Emitting Diodes (LED) lamps have become the modern day energy saving and environmentally friendly lighting source choice. Recent lighting fixtures have been designed with A-shape lamps like the kind Thomas Edison invented in 1879. Newer light sources such as Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) and LED lamps have been configured to mimic A-shape lamps. But this shape does not make the most efficient use of LED technology, such as with today's regulations for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990.
Develop a design for a line of light fixtures; to include a pendant, a ceiling mount, and a wall mount. Each would have a metal mounting fixture with a shade made from slip-cast porcelain. An etched pattern shade will add visual interest.
